How did Queen Anne Community School begin?
Our school began eight years ago, with its roots in the founding of the 'Young Child Academy' early childhood program. We started out as a small group of children, parents and inspired educators, and have grown steadily each year since. In 2003 we started our Pre-K program, then added our first Kindergarten class the following year.
In 2007 our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes formally separated from Young Child Academy, becoming 'Queen Anne Community School'. In 2008, we added First through Fifth grades, attracting new students and families to expand our Primary Years program and form the beginnings of our Intermediate Years program.
Over the coming years we plan to expand our Pre-K to Fifth Grade program to reach a maximum enrollment of 12 children per grade, and a total school population of no more than 90 children. We are excited about continuing to strengthen our place within the Queen Anne and wider Seattle community, as well as our ability to offer a truly unique and wonderful elementary education program!
